April 13th Workshop Meeting

2:00-3:30 at the beautiful Stanford Inn

arrive at 1:30 to socialize and enjoy a libation with fellow members

WRITE LIKE AN ANIMAL with Terri Farley

Creativity, empathy and science merge in Write Like An Animal, a workshop for those who want to revitalize a tired old draft, jump-start a brand-new idea or just wrap themselves in words. Participants will role-play thoughts and feelings of a free-choice animal, write past standard instructions to “use your five senses,” and finally create a scene complete with setting, conflict, characterization and more.

Terri Farley has always loved books, horses and wild places. One of those wild places was inner city Los Angeles where she taught high school English and Journalism before moving to Northern Nevada. Farley is the author of the Phantom Stallion adventure series (HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Audible) which has sold over 2 million copies worldwide, Seven Tears Into the Sea (Simon and Schuster) a YA fantasy and Wild At Heart: Mustangs and the Young People Fighting to Save Them (Houghton-Mifflin) a work of nonfiction.

Farley lives in an old house with her family, which includes an elderly goldfish named Fluffy and her dog, Willow. In true collie fashion, Willow rescued the youngest member of the Farley family, an orphaned kitten named Tamarack.
