Sign Ups for Ekphrasis Now Open. Writer Deadline June 15

Inspire an artist or be inspired by an artist?

What’s your preference?

You can write about the way a piece of art moves you or create a piece of writing to inspire an artist. If you haven’t participated before, this is how it works. In collaboration with the Artists Co-op of Mendocino, 10 writers initiate a one-page piece of prose or poetry, and 10 artists respond to it. Another 10 writers sign up to respond to art created by 10 Co-op artists.
The Ekphrasis exhibit opens at the Artists Co-op gallery on October 12, at a Second Saturday party, and runs until November 4th. Readings and art are featured at the October 20th meeting of the Writers of the Mendocino Coast.
Sign-ups are now until midnight June 15. Make your preferences known (initiator or responder) by emailing Christine Anderson at [email protected] Put Ekphrasis in the subject line. Sign up early. Spots are limited and they go fast!

SCHOLASTIC ART AND WRITING CONTEST
Thanks to all the patient judges who participated in the Scholastic
Writing Contest. Thanks to our steadfast judges, WMC raised $3,750.

WHY WE PASS ROB'S HAT
WMC is committed to keeping our membership renewal fee low. Almost half of our dues go to the state club, and expenses have increased. We no longer have a free space to meet. In order to attract quality speakers, we provide them with a stipend to cover travel costs, a stipend we raised post-COVID. Your donation helps WMC continue to offer quality programs.
