FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC LISA LOCASCIO "Lying and Telling the Truth at the same time: Writing From Life" Thursday, August 15th, 6:00 p.m. Few of us can avoid the allure of feeding our writing with content from our lives. Whether we consciously or unconsciously we import people, dialogue, settings or plots from our lived experience into our work, it is an unavoidable truth that our lives inform our creative output. How does one meaningfully--and ethically--mediate between the lived and the felt? How can we use our knowledge of our lives to create vibrant, shimmering poetry, fiction, and nonfiction? In this talk, we will explore examples of writers pulling from their lives and consider how we might learn from their triumphs and sorrows. ![]() 2019 ANTHOLOGY, NIGHT WAVES
