Six local poets will describe their response to the idea of November, to be followed by a writing exercise with everyone. Bring paper and pen/pencil! Excerpts from two examples of poems about November: "November" by prizewinning poet, editor, & teacher Maggie Dietz (stanzas 1 & 2) "Show's over, folks. And didn't October do A bang-up job? Crisp breezes, full-throated cries Of migrating geese, low-floating coral moon // "Nothing left but fool's gold in the trees. Did I love it enough, the full-throttle foliage. While it lasted? Was I dazzled? The bees //" "No!" by Thomas Hood, early 1800's (last 3 lines) "No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds, November!"

POETRY WRITING WORKSHOPS The workshops include samples of the various styles and techniques of poetry writing, displays of published works, in-session writing exercises along with readings and discussions of individual works produced during the workshops.
