THE LITERARY REVIEW IS ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS
The California Writers Club Literary Review is an annual print publication that features writing from members of all twenty-two branches. Submissions are accepted in the categories of fiction, memoir, essay, and poetry. Publication is competitive. Although the name “literary” is in its name, the Review encourages well-written genre fiction such as mystery, fantasy, and romance. In short, it is looking to publish the best writing from CWC members.
Submissions are accepted between September 1, 2018 and November 20, 2018.
Full information on how to submit, and a FAQ giving more details about the process is at http://calwriters.org/

FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC JOSH WEIL "The Long Short" The award winning, and widely published author talks about writing Thursday, September 20th, 6:00 p.m. About the author What’s the difference between a novella and a short story? How does a story change as you give it more room to breathe or choose to constrain it? What do you gain through compression, what do you lose? In this discussion, we’ll talk about what kinds of stories work best as short stories, how to listen to the story telling you what length it needs to be—and why my stories tend to demand the awkward form of the long short.
