THE LITERARY REVIEW IS ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS
The California Writers Club Literary Review is an annual print publication that features writing from members of all twenty-two branches. Submissions are accepted in the categories of fiction, memoir, essay, and poetry. Publication is competitive. Although the name “literary” is in its name, the Review encourages well-written genre fiction such as mystery, fantasy, and romance. In short, it is looking to publish the best writing from CWC members.
Submissions are accepted between September 1, 2018 and November 20, 2018.
Full information on how to submit, and a FAQ giving more details about the process is at http://calwriters.org/

INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF AUTHORS Ginny is excited to establish a fund at the Community Foundation that allows her to support local writers now as well as in the future. “With my inheritance, I wanted to filter money back into the local writers’ community and the Community Foundation had the best system to do that. The fund I set up will support the Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference and provide an ongoing scholarship in Middle Grade or Young Adult fiction or nonfiction. Scholarships are the way we encourage people from diverse backgrounds to attend the conference, especially those who continue to write in spite of obstacles in their lives. I like knowing my money will help these future writers pursue the career path that has brought me so much satisfaction.”
If you would like to donate to Ginny’s fund, click here. To discuss establishing a designated fund to benefit a particular charitable organization, contact Megan Barber Allende at (707) 468-9882 or [email protected]. MEMBER NEWS

WELCOME TO THE
CALIFORNIA WRITERS CLUB - FOUNDED in 1909 - The Mendocino Coast branch is proud to share in this legacy. Our intention is to expand the network and provide publishing opportunities for writers. In 2003, the California Writers Club worked with legislators to establish a week to celebrate and recognize California Writers. The result of this effort occurred on September 4, 2003 when the California State Assembly officially declared the third week in October of each year as California Writers Week. The Resolution is endorsed by the California Library Association. During the third week of October, CWC branches and libraries all over the state will celebrate California Writers Week.
